Simeon Stoddard, the son of Simeon and Clarissa (Smith) Stoddard, was born in Waitsfield, Vermont on November 30, 1842. He enlisted from Montpelier, Vermont in Co. H, 6th Vermont Infantry Regiment on August 14, 1861. He was wounded on May 5, 1864 and was mustered out on October 28, 1864. He died May 14, 1899, and is buried in the town cemetery in Pittsfield, Vermont.
