A single notebook containing Giles Thomas Chittenden's schoolwork. The schoolwork consists mainly of arithmetic problems, though there are some repeated sentences/phrases on the covers and on the last page. Giles' name appears on the top of the front cover.

Biographical or historical data :

Giles Thomas Chittenden, the third son of Thomas and Elizabeth Chittenden, was born 30 July 1768 in Salisbury, Connecticut. His family moved to what is now Vermont (then called the New Hampshire Grants) in 1773, settling in the present-day Williston area on the Winooski River. His father became governor of Vermont in 1778, and Giles served as a guard for his father during the American Revolution.with the rank of colonel. Giles married Polly Hawley, daughter of Andrew and Ann (Hard) Hawley. Giles Thomas Chittenden died on 15 March 1819, age 51.
