Biographical or historical data :

Richard Bedford, Jr. was born in Yorkshire, England on September 17, 1812, the son of Richard and Grace (Varley) Bedford. He came with his parents to the United States and by 1820, they were settled in Bethel, Vermont. Richard Bedford, Jr. entered the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal Church and took up his first charge in 1833. He continued until 1849, serving in churches throughout the state of Vermont. In 1849 he moved to Campbellsville, Pennsylvania to take care of his aging parents. Richard Bedford, Jr. died on January 31, 1884.
