Biographical or historical data :

Plainfield House, Plainfield, Vermont, was built in the mid-1830s by Gameliel Washburn. In 1911, the proprietor was C. M. Hawes. Plainfield House burned on New Year's Eve, 1914. It was rebuilt by F. J. Bancroft in July, 1914 and renamed Bancroft House.
