Biographical or historical data :

Edgar Pitkin, of Burlington, Vt., enlisted as a Sergeant in Co. H, 1st Vermont Regiment, on May 2, 1861, and was mustered out on August 15, 1861. A month later, on September 11, 1861, he was commissioned Adjutant with the 1st Vermont Cavalry. He served with that unit until he was mustered out on September 10, 1862.
