Biographical or historical data :

Charles Sibley was born January 24, 1802, the son of Andrew and Polly (Putnam) Sibley. He was the first postmater at North Montpelier, Vermont, appointed in 1840. In 1850 he bought a brick house in North Montpelier and soon after opened the "Union Store", as it was known.
