Transcript of a manuscript written by Hiland H. Gutterson for Abby Hemenway's Vermont Gazetteer, which contains the portion of his history of Andover, Vermont relating to the lives of Joel and Samuel Manning. Joel Manning was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1806 and his brother, Samuel, was ordained as a deacon. Most of the manuscript relates to Joel's career as minister. Only portions of this manuscript were published in the Vermont Gazetteer.
