Edmund F. Perkins, the son of William and Lucia Perkins, was born February 2, 1837 in Johnson, Vermont. He enlisted on December 14, 1861 as a wagoner in Company E of the Seventh Vermont Volunteer Regiment. He re-enlisted as a private on February 29, 1864 and mustered out on March 14, 1866. He married Melissa Bedel on February 2, 1860 and after the war worked as a shoemaker in Johnson, Vermont. He died April 20, 1921.
