The record book contains an alphabetical listing of church members from the beginning of the church until the year 1906, and gives the date of joining, the form it took (by letter or by profession), the last year of membership and the reason, whether by death or dismissal. It also contains accounts relating to the repair of the church building.

The Congregational Church in Hinesburgh was formed by Rev. Nathan Perkins while on a missionary trip through Vermont. It was organized on May 20, 1789 with eleven members. A church building was constructed in 1811 and rebuilt in brick in 1837. Services were held until 1915, when the Congregationalists, Baptists, and Methodists combined in a federation, forming the United Church.
