Summary :

The collection contains memoranda, cost estimates, correspondence, photographs, and maps prepared by Holm during his assignment in Vermont as a consultant for the Green Mountain Power Corporation. Much of his work was associated with projects at Molly's Falls in Marshfield, Vermont, Green River Reservoir in Eden and Hyde Park, Vermont, and on the Winooski River in Middlesex and Bolton, Vermont. Also included in the collection are regional power electrical distribution maps of much of northeastern United States.

Biographical or historical data :

Harold W. Holm was born in Racine, Wisconsin September 4, 1896, the son of Danish immigrant parents. He joined the United States Navy May 14, 1917 and spent his naval career at the Brooklyn, New York Navy Yard and at Norfolk, Virginia where he studied electrical engineering. Following his naval career he enrolled at the University of Wisconsin at Madison for further studies in electrical engineering and graduated in June 1923. He was first employed by the United Gas Improvement Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and he married Ruth W. Nelson on October 21, 1925. Next he joined the Trojan Engineering Co. in 1929 and this company sent him to Vermont that year to work as a consultant for the Green Mountain Power Corporation. The family lived in Waterbury from 1929 until 1932, when they moved back to Racine. There he managed a feed and grain business until 1976. He died in Racine on December 27, 1979.
