Summary :

This collection includes Benjamin Franklin Waterman's diaries of 1856, 1861, 1863, 1880, 1881, 1884, and 1886. There are also Barre, Vermont tax bills of 1892-1922. There are auto licenses and registations of 1913 and 1914, receipts for automobile registration for 1913 and 1914, and Automobile Club of Vermont cards of 1914 and 1916. The diaries mostly consist of notations about the weather, visits, and the daily chores of a farmer, with fairly detailed accounts at the end of each diary. The diaries also include two poems, evidently written by Benjamin Franklin Waterman. There are photographs of the Waterman grave, a group photo of Frank, wife Addie, and son Ralph Waterman (Sept. 5, 1919), Ralph's car (1919), and Ralph sugaring (1947).

Biographical or historical data :

Benjamin Franklin Waterman was born in 1835 in Orange, Vermont, and died in Barre, Vermont in 1927. His wife was Adeline A. (Thompson) Waterman (1850-1933), and their one child was Ralph Orville Waterman.
