The account books contain personal information as well as financial records. James Tarbox used these books to record information about the weather, crops he sowed, livestock, and sugaring.

Biographical or historical data :

James Tarbox was born in 1759. On June 15, 1782, in Dunstable, Massachusetts, he married Betsey Lund. From there he moved to Windsor, Vermont where he set up his store. The store failed and on March 15, 1796 he moved to Randolph, Vermont where he set up business once again, this time successfully. He died August 25, 1841.
