Summary :

The accounts cover the years 1808 to 1872 and the later accounts appear to have been done by his son, Gurdon Plummer Hibbard. The account book also contains a diary for the year 1843, written by Gurdon Plummer Hibbard, which contains information on farming, weather, and religious meetings. The diary mentions several Miller camp meetings held in Chelsea, Vermont.

Biographical or historical data :

Gurdon H. Hibbard (also known as Gordon Hibbard), brought the first merino sheep to Brookfield, Vermont in 1811. He farmed on a 300 acre farm he bought in 1809 and produced woolen cloth.
