Book kept by Josiah C. Dickey of Co. H., 7th Vermont Regiment, describing the activities of the regiment, including list of deceased soldiers, a few accounts, and some poetry and verse. Also a four page history of Co. H for the period June to August, 1862, following the company from New Orleans, through Baton Rouge, on to Vicksburg, and back to Baton Rouge.

Josiah C. Dickey of Barnard, Vt., enlisted in Co. H, 7th Vermont Regiment, on January 1, 1862. He was promoted to Corporal on September 1, 1862, and to Sergeant on March 1, 1863. He re-enlisted on February 20, 1864, was reduced in rank at some point, but subsequently promoted again to Corporal on October 4, 1864 and to Sergeant on July 1, 1865. He was mustered out on March 5, 1866.
