Letters from David P. Bent, from Marshfield, Vt., while a soldier in the 4th Vermont Regiment, Co. G.; one to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bent, 1862 April 19, and one to his brother, C. C. Bent, 1962 March 9. There is also a letter from Captain George P. Foster to Samuel Bent informing him of his son's death, 1862 May 28.

Biographical or historical data :

David P. Bent was born in 1842 at Marshfield, Vt. On August 30, 1861, he enlisted in the 4th Vermont Regiment, Co. G. He died 9 months later, on May 7, 1862, in Washington, D.C., of dysentery. His body was returned home for burial in the Marshfield Village cemetery.
