Letter from Vermont Governor Frederick Holbrook, "to whom it may concern," certifying that S. N. Wheelock is in Gettysburg, Pa., to find and transport the remains of Henry C. Spring, of the 16th Vermont Regiment, Co. D.

Henry C. Spring was born at Grafton, Vt., on August 6, 1847. On August 29, 1862, he enlisted as a Private in Co. D, 16th Vermont Regiment. He was wounded at Gettysburg, Pa., on July 3, 1863, and died nine days later, on July 12. His body was returned to Grafton, Vt., and was buried there at the Village Cemetery on August 10, 1863.
