Letters from Harrison B. George, of Morristown, Vt., while serving in the 11th Vermont Regiment during the Civil War. Describes the Battle of Cold Harbor.

Biographical or historical data :

Harrison Bingham George was born on August 1, 1837, at Montpelier, Vt. He enlisted in Co. L, 11th Vermont Regiment, on July 21, 1863. He was promoted to Corporal on December 27, 1863, to Sergeant on March 1, 1865 and to Company Quartermaster Sergeant on June 23, 1865. He was transferred to Co. C on June 24, 1865, and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant two days later on June 26. He was mustered out of the service on August 25, 1865. He died of arteriosclerosis on November 12, 1910 in Morrisville, Vt., and was buried there at Pleasant View Cemetery on November 15, 1910.
