Summary :

Pension papers of Jason E. Freeman, of Pomfret, Vt., for service during the Civil War. Included are his discharges from the 1st Vermont Regiment, Co. E, 1861; 16th Vermont Regiment, Co. H, 1863; and the 6th Regiment, Co. C, 1865. There are also two letters from Redfield Proctor about the pension, 1902, 1904.

Biographical or historical data :

Jason E. Freeman, of Cavendish, Vt., enlisted in Co. E, 1st Vermont Regiment, on May 2, 1861, and was mustered out on August 15, 1861. He then enlisted in Co. K, 16th Vermont Regiment, on September 15, 1862. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in Co. H of that regiment on December 31, 1862, and was mustered out on August 10, 1863. He joined up once again on March 15, 1865 (residence listed as Stamford, Vt.), this time as a Private in Co. C, 6th Vermont Regiment. He was promoted to Corporal on June 19, 1865, and was mustered out of that unit on June 26, 1865.
