Twelve letters from James F. Stoddard of the 7th Vermont Infantry, in 1862 to his wife, Cynthia A. Stoddard, in Poultney, Vt., The letters are from New York, Ship Island, New Orleans and Vicksburg. There is also a letter telling of Stoddard's death written by Charles Clark, and the Adjutant General's certificate regarding his war record and death.

Biographical or historical data :

James F. Stoddard of Poultney, Vt., enlisted in the 7th Vermont Regiment, Co. I, December 2, 1861. He died of disease September 5, 1862, and is buried in Chalmette, La.
