Letter by Redfield Proctor at Camp Griffin, Va., to Samuel Williams, about quartermaster funds, November 29, 1861; letter by Proctor at Proctorsville, Vt., to Gov. Holbrook, offering to step aside for Col. Veazey in a colonelcy election, September 24, 1862; letter by Proctor at Alexandria, Va., to Gov. Holbrook saying that Col. Veazey is the best officer in the Brigade, and he criticizes Gen. Casey and wishes the 15th and 16th Vermont Regiments could be sent to Gen. Banks in Texas.

Biographical or historical data :

Redfield Proctor (1831-1908) was commissioned quartermaster of the 3rd Vermont Regiment June 19, 1861, was promoted to major of the 5th Vermont Regiment September 25, 1861, resigned July 11, 1862. He was commissioned colonel of the 15th Vermont Regiment September 26, 1862, and was mustered out August 5, 1863.
