35 Civil War letters from John S. T. Wallace of the 15th Vermont Regiment, to his sister Emmeline or mother in Barnet, Vt., dated 1862-1863 from Brattleboro, Vt.; Union Mills, Va.; Fairfax Court House, Va.; Arlington, Va.; and the hospital in Washington, D.C. There is a letter from Scott Laughlin, Catlett's Station, to John Wallace about the burning of a train by the Rebels, June 13, 1863, and a letter from Laughlin, Union Mills, to Emmeline Wallace, April 10, 1863. Also there is a letter from Robert Harvey, Indianapolis, to Emmeline Wallace, February 7, 1867, and two poems.

Biographical or historical data :

A. Scott Laughlin of Barnet, Vt., enlisted as a Private in Co. F, 15th Vermont Regiment, on September 16, 1862, and was promoted to Corporal on April 10, 1863. He was mustered out of the service on August 5, 1863. He is buried in the Village Cemetery at Williamstown, Vt.

John Socrates Tuttle Wallace was born on November 21, 1835, at Barnet, Vt. He enlisted as a Private in Co. F, 15th Vermont Regiment, on September 16, 1862, and was mustered out on August 5, 1863. He died of Bright's disease on October 24, 1913 at Barnet, Vt., and was buried there in Pleasant View Cemetery.
