Summary :

Papers of Elbert B. Kimball beginning in August 1861 with a pass issued to Kimball to "go to Fort and back," and continuing with a series of papers through January 1862 naming Kimball recruiting officer for the 6th Vermont Regiment and then granting him a discharge because he did not receive a commission as 1st lieutenant. There is one letter to Kimball written from Culpepper Court House, Va., August 15, 1862, describing the battle of Cedar Mountain. There are two lists of ordnance stores kept by Kimball as captain of Co. C of the 8th Vermont Regiment, 1865.
