Letter dated February 10, 1865, quoting from the diary of Corporal Charles B. Chapin of Williston, Vt., of the First Vermont Cavalry Regiment, about his capture and experiences in Andersonville Prison.

Biographical or historical data :

Charles B. Chapin (1842-1865) of Williston, Vt., enlisted in the First Vermont Regiment Cavalry, Co. L, August 18, 1862. He was held prisoner May 5, 1864 to November 29, 1864. He died January 17, 1865 of disease and is buried at St. John's College, Annapolis, Maryland.
